Who I am

This website is run by Lara Balint, an independent children's book author and illustrator based in Alberta, Canada. If you have any questions about your privacy, you can reach me at the email address at the bottom of this page.

What I collect

I only collect information that helps me run this website and stay in touch with readers who want to hear from me. This includes:

• Your email address and name, if you choose to join my reader list or download a free resource such as a colouring pack.
• Basic usage information, such as which pages you visit and roughly how long you stay, collected automatically to help me understand what readers find useful.
• Anything you send me directly, such as the content of an email if you write to me.

I do not ask for or store sensitive personal information, and I never collect payment details on this site. Any book purchases happen through Amazon or other retailers under their own privacy policies.

How I use it

The information I collect is used only to:

• Send you the free resource or updates you signed up for.
• Occasionally email you about new books, activities, or news, if you have joined my reader list.
• Understand how the website is used so I can make it better.
• Reply to you if you get in touch.

I will never sell your information, rent it, or hand it to anyone for their own marketing.

The tools I use

To run this small business I rely on a few trusted services, and your information may pass through them. Each has its own privacy policy:

• MailerLite manages my reader email list and sends my newsletters.
• Google Analytics gives me anonymous information about how the website is used.
• Meta (Facebook and Instagram) tools help me understand whether my ads and posts are reaching the right readers.
• BookFunnel delivers advance and free copies of my books to readers who request them.

These services only receive what they need to do their job, and they are not permitted to use your information for anything else.

Cookies

Like most websites, this one uses small files called cookies to help pages work properly and to gather the anonymous usage information mentioned above. You can turn cookies off in your browser settings at any time. Some parts of the site may work a little differently if you do, but you are always welcome to browse.

Your choices

You are always in control of your information:

• You can unsubscribe from my emails at any time using the link at the bottom of every email I send.
• You can ask me what information I hold about you, and I will tell you.
• You can ask me to delete your information, and I will, unless I am required to keep it by law.

To make any of these requests, just email me and I will take care of it.

Children

My books are written for children, but this website and my email list are meant for the grown-ups who read to them. I do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent me their information, please let me know and I will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If I change how I handle your information, I will update this page and change the date at the top. Any significant changes will be shared with my reader list.
